Halcyon Eve by Aquilapse
Halcyon Eve
My first time visiting Lake Bonney and only just in time to catch sunset! Before even getting out of the car I attracted what seemed to be thousands of blood-thirsty insects. My check list really only included my cameras, so no repellent - I even forgot the 2L bottle of water that I had pre-chilled!

With only about half an hours light left in the day I didn't have the chance to explore as much as I thought. I found this iconic tree with a tyre swing set up on it, all ready for Summer! And that was hard to pass up on it's own.
I took all of my shots here at this same spot all night, or at least until clouds blew in from the West. I have 2 more photos that I was happy with from the night. One from sunset and one with the Milky Way. But my favourite was this one, right in between both, where the colours were still reflecting on the calm lake and the stars had just begun their show.

Capturing Fire by Aquilapse
Capturing Fire
I don't really sleep a whole lot, which might be evident with all the photos of stars. So when daylight savings starts it comes with mixed emotion, less sleep - but I finally get the time to be out with the camera for sunset!
Unfortunately my sunset season hasn't started for me just yet, so while I was working on a business card design this weekend, digging through my archives for a colourful photo I came across this. Possibly the most colourful sunset I have seen since I started taking notice of them :D

King of the Hill by Aquilapse
King of the Hill
Now that the Spring Equinox has officially started, the opportunities to capture the Milky Way are fading. 6 months ago I would have waited until 3am to see capture a scene like this - Now this is happening at 10pm and will continue to set earlier and earlier each night.
I was lucky enough to meet the property owner as I was passing this spot, a 5 minute chat later and I was allowed to stay. 10 acres of rolling hills to explore before the sun set and the stars came out!

Located in the hills south of Adelaide, the McLaren Vale/ Willunga area is well known for it's wine. Vineyards are scattered everywhere but not many had a view like this. Although it is reasonably close to the city and the light pollution is noticeable, I am surprised the MW was still so bright in the sky.
I'll be trying my best to track down the owner again and give them a little more credit for being so accommodating

Comments, favourites, shares are all welcome as usual!……

So I think it's about time I actually updated my dA page, I have had accounts here for about 7-8 years now but I am finally starting to decent views so I think it's only fair I put a little bit of effort into completing this page.

I am self-taught landscape photographer based out of Adelaide, Australia. I have been using DSLRs for almost 5 years now and when I started I had no idea what I was doing - sometimes I still feel like that!

I have completed studies in IT such as Mulitimedia, Web Development, and Printing. But my passion is still photography. Not so big on portraits as I don't seem to have many connections, So in my free time I mix my love for open spaces and my cameras.
I currently work in the print industry, although some day it would be amazing to go part time with supporting jobs using my camera know-how.

Comments, favourites and any kind of interaction on my work gives me a huge boost to keep going, so feel free to let me know what you think!

Next step: Work on this whole "Journal" thing!
